David C. Clement brings a distinctive combination of legal and architectural experience to his construction and real estate law practice. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Louisiana Tech University in 1990 and began his professional career in architecture, gaining hands-on experience in virtually every phase of the construction process.

As an intern architect, Mr. Clement served as Project Architect on numerous construction projects. His responsibilities included client consultation, schematic design and design development, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, construction observation, computer-aided drafting, code research, and review of construction contracts. This practical background provides him with a valuable understanding of the technical, contractual, and business issues that arise throughout a construction project.

Mr. Clement earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University College of Law in 1995. While at Loyola, he served on the Moot Court staff and was selected by the Moot Court Board as an arguing member and chief brief writer for the team competing in the Vanderbilt National First Amendment Invitational.

Admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1995, Mr. Clement has represented architects, engineers, owners, developers, sureties, insurers, contractors, and subcontractors in matters involving construction and real estate law. His experience encompasses a broad range of disputes and legal issues arising from the planning, design, construction, and completion of projects.

Mr. Clement has completed the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) Intensive Deposition Skills Program as well as the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel Intensive Trial Academy. He is also a frequent speaker before construction industry organizations on topics including construction contracts, developments in construction law, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Clement has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution. He has served as a panel neutral with Perry Dampf Dispute Solutions since 2014 and completed mediation training at the Harvard Negotiation Institute at Harvard Law School in 2013. Since 2019, he has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Loyola University College of Law, where he teaches Mediation and Arbitration.

Mr. Clement is a member of the American Bar Association, including its Forum on Construction Law, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
